LEPTOSTRACANS (CRUSTACEA, LEPTOSTRACA) OF THE SOUTHERN OCEAN FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE ZOOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The fauna of Leptostraca from the Southern Ocean and adjacent waters, which has been studied for 130 years, is represented by 13 species belonging to 5 genera and 3 families. Three species of leptostracans (Nebalia antarctica, Nebaliella brevicarinata, and Paranebalia longipes), which are deposited at the collection of the Zoological Institute, were sampled by researchers of the Soviet and Russian expeditions in the region studied in the previous century. New data on the geographical and bathymetric distribution of these species are presented. A concise biogeographical analysis of the Leptostraca fauna in the Southern Ocean and adjacent waters was performed. A regional key to the identification of the Leptostraca family, genus and species is given.
