Influence of heatsetting temperature of polyester (PET) in the rates of diffusion of disperse dyes

摘要
A substrate of polyester PET has been heatset in an industrial stenter at nominal temperatures among 160 and 220 degrees C. The resulting substrates have been dyed with two dyes of different molecular size. The dye absorption has been calculated at times among 2.5 and 600 min (absorption kinetics) and the diffusion coefficients have been calculated using Hill's equation. Differences in the evolution of the diffusion coefficients of the two dyes of different molecular size as a function of heatsetting temperature have been appreciated.
