TECHNOLOGICAL PROFILE OF DAIRY FARMS IN MINAS GERAIS

Propose of the study: The objective was to investigate how the main existing technologies in dairy farms in Minas Gerais can be classified according to the level of technological development (strategic, tactical and operational). Specifically, it was intended to identify the level of technological development of these properties. Methodology / approach: Through the factor analysis technique, the main technological factors of 495 dairy farms in Minas Gerais were identified, participating in the project of technical assistance Educampo, from Sebrae Minas. Once these factors were identified, a new factor analysis was carried out in order to classify them between the strategic, tactical and operational levels. Originality / relevance: This research is justified due to the lack of publications on how the main technologies used in dairy properties in Minas Gerais can be classified in terms of strategic, tactical and operational levels. Main results: Eight technological factors were identified, namely: Production system; Artificial insemination; Irrigation; Creates and recreates; Nutrition; Milking; Other reproductive biotechnologies (OBR); and Certification; allocated at the strategic, tactical and operational levels. Only 19.39% of the properties analyzed have technological development at a strategic level. Theoretical / methodological contributions: A comparison was made between the technologies classified as strategic, tactical and operational, results of this research, with literature that explores the theme, even if in a partial way. Social contributions to management: To provide rural producers, through the results of this research, to identify the level of technological development in which their dairy properties are inserted, as well as which are the main technologies that can contribute to the technological advancement in these properties in the short, medium and long terms.
