Transient vs. steady-state dynamics in discrete stacked junction flux-flow oscillators

We investigate via numerical simulations the in-phase flux-flow state in a discrete Josephson transmission line with stacked junctions in the case where the flux-flow is initiated and characterized by a transient pulse, as opposed to steady-state flux-flow in an applied magnetic field. We show that while coherent multifluxon Bow is possible in the steady-state case only for very tight stacked junction parameter variations, the transient mode allows for coherent multifluxon flow with greater and more readily achievable junction tolerances.
