Temporally enhanced erasure codes for real-time communication protocols

摘要
In this paper a new technique, named as Temporally Enhanced Erasure Codes (TEEC), is developed as an enhancement to the existing Forward Error Correction (FEC) technique. In TEEC the scopes of encoding/decoding are expanded beyond block boundaries, and they may overlap with scopes of neighboring blacks. To show its advantages, a real-time protocol was implemented by using TEEC technique. In terms of bandwidth requirements and end-to-end delays for packet delivery, it is shown that the protocol employing TEEC outperforms block-by-block based protocols.
