E-procurement: On-line public administration purchasing

Within the context of national public-spending rationalization, the Regione Piemonte has set up a portal for on-line purchasing. Acquisti.SistemaPiemonte.it enables Public Administration bodies in Piedmont to use electronic and telecommunication procedures to support processes for purchasing supplies. Bureaucratic procedures, which normally lengthen the amount of time necessary to make purchases, decrease and the procedure for awarding contracts, become increasingly transparent. The system of on-line purchasing also offers the function of ITC-based tenders and bids, the management of inter-body agreements and dynamic purchasing system. The use of the Internet as a tool to connect the worlds of business and Public Administration was a winning decision, which will bring notable benefits both nationally and internationally.
