DIGITAL LIBRARY "AN EDUCATIONAL PROCESS TOOL"

Nowadays, the access to any type of information, at any moment of time and from any part of the world, is essential to manage the new challenges. An instrument which offers such an advantage is the so called digital library (DL). A digital library offers both user and librarian, much more services, in contrast with the traditional library. Before using this concept of DL, we must understand its principles and terms. In the current paper, we will develop such a digital library on a certain subject, using the Greenstone software, which is an instrument which allows the developing, the maintaining and the distribution of digital libraries collections. Also, we will present the advantages of using this type of library in the educational domain. The digital libraries with a normal interface can be developed using Greenstone software in a very short period of time and with minimal effort on the part of developer. The usage of this software allows the developing of first-class digital libraries, within the framework of it can be realised a suitable documents management.
