摘要：

Recently there has been much interest in physical phenomena in highway traffic flow [1]. In particular, the effect of in-flux from an on-ramp has been considered and several dynamic states are predicted using continuum traffic equations [2,3]. In this paper, we review findings of a recent empirical study [4], which appear to support theoretical predictions, and present a preliminary phase diagram of congested traffic flow.
