摘要
Young's modulus and Poisson ratio are two indexes of most basic mechanical properties of engineering materials. Porous metal foam is a class of excellent engineering materials with dual attributes of structural and functional characteristics, and those two indexes are investigated with the "octahedron model" for these materials. The results reveal that the apparent Young's modulus shows a quite complicated mathematical relationship to porosity of the porous body, and the apparent Poisson ratio is a character of material constant not relative to porosity of the porous metal foams.
