Detonation of ammonium nitrate explosives in addition with TNT was investigated. The experimental values of detonation velocity D for explosive mixtures of constant chemical composition are fitted by the relationship D = f(1/d), where d is the charge diameter. The extrapolated to infinte diameter detonation velocities, D-ie, are compared with detonation velocities evaluated by use of thermochemical code. Obtained results allow us to propose suggestions as regards to preparation of mining explosives of the optimum detonation parameters.
