UPGRADING THE LEARNER'S CAPABILITIES ON THINKING CREATIVELY TO CREATE ORNAMENTAL DECORATIVE UNITS FROM SOME NATURE ELEMENTS TO ENRICH THE INTERIOR SPACE FURNISHINGS

摘要
The decorative systems in nature are sources of the designer's inspiration, through his analysis of its built he becomes capable of translating, re-formulating and employing it in a new artistic designing vision, seeking through it to enrich the decorative field for many materials used in decorating interior spaces. The decorative design is one of the best fields to learn creative thinking skills. In this study several artistic units and formations for some nature elements were designed, suitable for applying in interior space furnishings, to fit the requirements and needs of the community. Due to the interest of the education system to develop goals, curricula and teaching methods in order to develop thinking skills and creativity to achieve linkage between education output and the external environment, thus this study showed interest in upgrading creative thinking skills among the learner to serve the development plans and the requirements of society, as this study targeted the following: 1. Developing learner capabilities and skills on creative and innovative thinking. 2. Deepening student concepts on thinking, creativity and finding solutions and alternatives to solve design problems. 3. Showing the student's creative ability in analysis, abstraction and creating units and decorative forms in a new artistic design visions. 4. The possibility of employing the innovated decorative unit in decorating interior spaces. 5. Students creating different decorative units combined from contemporary motifs inspired from nature. The data of this study has been fulfilled through a training program for the freshmen students at the Faculty of Arts and Design, Pharos University, Alexandria, Egypt. Students were trained to create contemporary panels inspired from some marine, plant and natural fruit elements. The study results showed: 1. The possibility of developing the learner's ability to think creatively by learning and training. 2. Increasing the student's creative skills in drawing, analysis and abstraction through applying the principles of decorative design. 3. The student's ability to develop textural decorative combinations through the shadow and light areas for some nature elements. 4. A noticeable designing progress in the student's creativity and analytical performance for some of the nature elements in the final weeks of the training program. 5. The effectiveness of the training program in developing the student's ability to create contemporary decorative art units to be applied to interior design furnishings. 6. The results of the evaluating card showed a remarkable development in the students performance skills during the training projects.
