A 3D FEM model for EMC analysis - Coupling of an electromagnetic wave with a wire inside a cavity

摘要
This paper presents a numerical method based on finite elements to model the coupling of an electromagnetic wave with a conducting wire inside a metallic cavity having a small aperture. The voltage induced on the wire is calculated by solving the vector wave equation in the frequency domain through a formulation based on Edge elements. In order to avoid the discretization of the wire volume, the wire effects are taken into account by adding an extra term into the variational formulation. An extensive set of numerical results is included and discussed.
