Real-time collaborative 3D product assembler for Internet-based manufacturing

摘要
We describe a framework of a real-time collaborative Interactive 3D Product Assembler (RC-I(3)DA) system. It aims to provide an intelligent environment for customers to configure their desired products by using customizable product models. This is achieved by refining the data model of an existing real-time collaborative 3D product assembler (I(3)DA) system to enhance its assembling technique to build complex products. Also, we discuss the communication of the system with computer-aided design and manufacturing systems through the use of XML to exchange STEP data. The assembler (RC-I(3)DA) system can be integrated into Internet-based manufacturing information system as part of a virtual manufacturing enterprise, enhancing its e-business capabilities.
