摘要
The investigation of the gifted children's self-concept is one part of the wider research focused on the sociability and emotionality of the gifted in the Czech Republic. The research was carried out in the sample of children at the age of 7-10 from the primary schools. Raven's Coloured Progressive Matrices were used to screen the intelligence of the children in the classrooms. 52 gifted children (IQ(Raven)) >= 130) were compared with 73 less-gifted children (IQ(Raven) <= 129) on five domains of the self-concept and the global self-worth (Harter's Self-perception profile for children was used). The research revealed that gifted children have better self-concept in the domain of school competence than children from the control group. In the other domains there are no significant differences between gifted and less-gifted children. Gifted children's global self-worth is determined especially by the field of behavioral conduct.
