摘要
A new technique of electrodilatometry (ED) has been applied to study binary solutions of Triton X-100 in cyclohexane in the concentration range 0.0664 - 11.7 m at 298 K. The relative volume changes per square of applied electric field strength known as electrodilatometric effect (R), vary from 0.423,x 10(-17) to 52.8 x 10(-17) m(2) / V-2. The sign of R is positive, indicating that the volume is increased in the presence of the externally applied fields. By observing the changes in the magnitude of R with respect to the changes in concentration, it is possible to infer that an abrupt change in the value of R may be related to a change in geometry of aggregates. The transformation of aggregate geometry from one type to another is discussed. ED is a very sensitive tool to investigate large molecular assemblies, especially those systems with H-bonds such as TX-100. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
