摘要
Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) process can produce high-performance components with complex shapes that are commonly used in the automotive and aerospace industries. This process allows for the printing of parts with topology optimized designs resulting in part weight reduction. Stainless Steel 316L and Maraging Steel MS1 produced via DMLS were investigated for their wear and corrosive performances in this paper, which includes medical, aerospace, automotive applications. Specimen prepared using DMLS process and considered for wear rate and corrosion analysis. The wear rate and frictional force of Stainless Steel 316L and Maraging Steel MS1 were investigated using a Pin-on-Disc wear tester with variable loads of 25N, 50N, and 75N. The rate of corrosion of the chosen specimen is also examined when they are exposed to 2 % of NaCl solution. With the aid of Tafel plots, EC Lab Software is used to evaluate the corrosion rate. The results of the experiments can be used to compare and evaluate the wear and corrosion rates of Stainless Steel 316L and Maraging Steel MS1 metals. Finally it was observed that Maraging steel MS1 is highly preferable than Stainless steel 316L because of low wear rate, frictional force and corrosion rate.
