摘要
The computer programming language GPSS/H(TM) was used to develop a model to simulate the existing conveyor belt haulage system at an underground coal mine in Southern Utah, USA. The model simulated the loading and corresponding flow of coal through the mine belt system. By recording spillage and belt stoppage statistics for the simulated Row, belt and surge bin capacities were evaluated. Data were collected from time studies and the analysis of production records. Suitable statistical loading distributions were fit to the various time elements of the mine's belt conveyor haulage system. Validation of the model against production data from an operating mine is briefly described. Animation was used to verify the simulation model. The model provided useful data for an efficiently and economically designed network. Belt sizes, belt speeds and bin capacities were then determined by simulation as part of the optimisation process. Design and operational modifications were proposed and simulated for potential improvement in belt system performance. Comparison of results for the belt system with and without a surge bin showed that the addition of a surge bin to the system increased production 13.2% due to a decrease in belt stoppage and increased belt speeds.
