Coexistence of, and competition between, superconductivity and magnetism in YbPd2Sn

摘要
The field versus temperature phase diagram of the magnetic superconductor YbPd2Sn has been determined by electrical resistivity, AC magnetic susceptibility and specific heat. The upper critical field B-c2 is found to be small (0.04 T at T --> 0). Reentrant behavior in the magnetic field implies competition between the superconductivity and antiferromagnetic short-range correlation. Based on a Schottky peak found in the specific heat for B greater than or equal to 0.3 T, the crystalline-field ground state of Yb3+ is confirmed to be Gamma(7). (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
