THE STUDY OF DEVELOPMENT OF URBAN UNDERGROUND SPACE IN PERSPECTIVE OF POLITICAL ECONOMY

City's economy has a tremendous impact on the formation and development of urban space. As a part of urban space, underground space is also influenced by political and economic factors. The purpose of this paper is to explore the political and economic reasons behind the development of Chinese urban underground space. Based on analyzing the mechanism of the interaction between economic and urban space, this article think that the development of urban underground space is promoted by development of agglomeration economies. Service-oriented urban industrial structure is an important cause of urban underground space development. During the transition period, urban underground space developed rapidly in China big cities, this phenomenon is the result of the combined effects of political and economic factors in a special historical period. Local goveminents, enterprises and individuals are three different dynainic entities, which work together to promote the development of urban underground space in China.
