The antimicrobial activity of the leaf extracts of Calotropis procera

摘要
Extracts of Calotropis procera were screened for antimicrobial activity. The in vitro (agar streak dilution), bioassay which was conducted, revealed strong activity at a 250 mu g/ml concentration of the water soluble extract against Clostridium perfringens and Streptococcus faecalis; the interface layer extract against Klebsiella ozaenae; the petroleum ether soluble extract against Pseudomonas aeruginosa; and the methanolic extract against Salmonella typhii. These results may indicate their clinical usefulness.
