The affecting factors of small and medium enterprise performance

Taiwanese Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the main driving force behind national economic devel-opment. They have played a significant role in sustaining economic growth, providing jobs, and developing industries. Facing the rapid change environment, Taiwanese SMEs continuously look for ways to survive, grow, and be competitive. This study explores how Taiwanese SMEs establish and sustain a better business performance and competitive advantage from their developing processes. Building on literature review, we use Nominal Group Technique (NGT) to identify six factors affecting firm performance. Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) is used to conclude multiple cause-and-effect conditions of firm performance. The results also propose a model to evaluate SMEs performance.
