Changes of optical parameters in a suspension of Scenedesmus obliquus are described. Size parameters were measured using a microscopic technique. Empirical distribution functions were approximated with the aid of phi-normal distributions. Spectral distributions of the light attenuation coefficient for Scenedesmus obliquus are illustrated and confidence intervals calculated. The form of the spectra is similar throughout all days and samples. Cell suspensions in culture evolve with respect to the dispersion distribution of the size parameter as well as the spectral distribution of the light attenuation coefficient. The evolution of these parameters was not unidirectional.
