Voltage Control in Distribution System by Load Transfer and Optimal Dispatch of Photovoltaic

The increasingly introduction of Photovoltaic (PV) systems into residential power system because of customers' desire to reduce electricity supply cost causes detrimental impacts, e.g. voltage operation and voltage unbalance (VU) issues. In order to cope with these problems, the control strategy of PV units where both reactive power control and active power curtailment are allowed has been proposed and it seems quite effective. However, much more active power curtailment is required to satisfy control requirement and this is not desired by customers on account that they will lose revenue. Besides, network configuration through sectionalizing switches is not really efficient with regard to intermittent power output of PVs and load variation throughout the day. Hence, this paper proposes a new control strategy which is the combination of dynamic-switch based load transfer (LT) and optimal inverter dispatch (OID) of PV units to eliminate VU while minimizing PVs' active power curtailment.
