Preparing gas distribution piping for the construction of a light rail transit system

摘要
A light rail transit (LRT) system is being built in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To prepare for any stray current, the gas company has installed testing and measurement facilities, including buried permanent reference electrodes, current measuring hoops on the piping, special construction for pipe crossing the tracks downtown, and judicious use of electrical isolating joints. Baseline surveys and future testing programs are being developed. This article describes the LRT system and the preparations being made on the as distribution piping.
