Supporting multimedia with soft-QoS guarantee in wireless communication systems

摘要
In this paper we propose transport and control solutions to convey multimedia traffic on the air interface of a multi-tier system that also includes the satellite coverage. Algorithms for call and handover management are introduced. They are based on the idea of conveying each component of a multimedia call on a specific radio bearer. Soft QoS is guaranteed to multimedia applications, depending on network variability, but higher than an acceptable minimum level specified by the user at set-up.
