摘要
The present work aims at sustainable groundwater usage planning by applying new methods for the proper use and efficient maintenance of important groundwater supplies. In Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques based on a decision-making approach were adopted to delineate groundwater potential zones. This study shows the efficiency of Satty's analytical hierarchy process (AHP) in delineating groundwater potentiality map. A total of seven spatial and non-spatial thematic layers such as Slope, Geology, Geomorphology, Soil, Land use / Land cover, and Drainage Density were assessed and assigned suitable weights for the delineation of Groundwater potential zones in GIS software. An integrated resultant map was generated for the Gautam Buddh Nagar which shows the groundwater potential zones having 25.43 Sq.km of very poor suitable sites, 12.95 Sq.km poor suitable sites, 664.11 Sq.km moderately suitable sites, 536.82 Sq.km suitable sites and 167.14 Sq.km of highly suitable sites.
