THE SPACE CIRCUITS OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTION IN RIO DE JANEIRO AND SAO PAULO: FORMATION AND INTEGRATION OF THE RIO DE JANEIRO-SAO PAULO MEGARREGION

The petroleum activity of extraction, circulation and processing has created a production chain in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, which is structured by means of a production space circuit We seek in this communication an interpretation of how this fraction of capital contributed to the spatial process of constitution and expansion of the RJ-SP megarregion - both in terms of the space circuit and of its urban nebula - and the new forms and spatial arrangements resulting therefrom. The research analyzes each of the productive structures and technical networks established in what we call the Petroleum Space Circuit and of the Royalties in the states of Rio de Janeiro and sao Paulo. presenting in maps the networks formed by the operational bases and facilities. From the interpretation of these bases it is sought to conjugate the dynamic factors of the urbanization that seems to us to present more and more regional characteristics and of metropolization of the space.
