摘要
The Ti-80Al (wt%) composite was deposited by cold spraying of Ti/Al mixed powder and Al matrix composite reinforced with in-situ TiAl3 intertermtallic particles was prepared through annealing treatment of the above-mentioned cold-sprayed Ti/Al deposit. The microstructure of TiAl3/Al composite during annealing was investigated by SEM, EDS and XRD. The solid diffusion reaction between Ti and Al particles in the annealed Ti/Al deposit was studied and the formation mechanism of TiAl3 intermetallics was also investigated. Results show that the as-sprayed Ti/Al deposit exhibits dense microstructure and has the same phase constitutes as the feedstock powder. The solid diffusion reaction between Ti particles and Al particles occurs in a local area of Ti/Al deposit when annealing at 450 degrees C and consequently in-situ TiAl3 intermetallics are formed. With the annealing temperature increasing, the content of TiAl3 intermetallics continuously increases. After annealing at 600 degrees C, all Ti particles in the Ti/Al deposit completely transform into TiAl3 intermetallics; as a result, the Al matrix composite reinforced with in-situ TiAl3 intermetallics particles are obtained.
