Synthesis of 1,3,4-Thiadiazole Lactosylamino Derivatives as Antimicrobials

摘要：
A series of new 2'-(substituted) benzylidene hydrazino-5-hepta-O-acetyl-beta-D-lactosylamino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles (5a-e) has been synthesized by the condensation of 1-hepta-O-acetyl-beta-D-lactosyl thioamido thiocarbohydrazide (3) with different aromatic aldehydes in benzene, followed by intramolecular cyclization of compounds (4a-e) in refluxing ethanol. The identities of the synthesized compounds were established by spectral analysis. The compounds were assayed for their antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms-bacteria and fungi.
