摘要
The Lebanese electrical grid has been facing many problems for the past two decades and a half especially in the generation sector. The most promising technology to be used is either solar or wind energy. However, the focus in the current research will be on wind generation as it holds great benefits in terms of energy density as compared to solar PV. One of the main challenges facing wind penetration into electrical grids is the transient stability of the system and its ability to sustain synchronism upon the clearance of faults. System stability was studied following short circuit faults on important transmission lines and in the neighborhood of the wind turbine plants. Sudden loss and sudden power injection of wind farms into the grid is also simulated, as well as a sudden decrease/increase in wind farm power production that could be the result of a wind dip/gust or the disconnection/connection of some wind turbines within the wind farm.
