摘要
In European seismic codes, structures excited by earthquakes generally shall be designed due to admissible stress or admissible force-resistance concepts. In reality, strong seismic excitations create low-cycle structural damage (fatigue) processes which can be controlled only by suitable damage variables. The present paper describes damage controlled seismic design concepts in reinforced concrete engineering. It propagates the use of admissible damage or dissipated energy measures instead of outrun stress or force-resistance concepts.
