摘要
Purpose: The aim of our study is to evaluate the effects of university education, which is the highest level of personal development and formal education, on sexuality issues related to young adults themselves, the choices of others, the imam marriage which is a social issue, their attitudes towards sexuality and myths about sexuality. Materials and Methods: In addition to the questionnaire we prepared for this purpose, a standardized scale, Sexual Myths Scale was applied to 1st and 4th grade students of Mersin Univerdity and the results were compared. Results: A total of 666 students of 337 1st grade and 329 4th grade students participated in the study. 54.1% of the participants were female and 45.6% were male. The duration of university education had a positive effect on persistence of sexual myths and attitudes. Factors such as advancing age, maturing relationships, individual development, research, and easier access to information were also effective. Conclusion: University life has a positive effect on changing sexual attitudes and reducing sexual myths. The results are beneficial in terms of taking social measures and guiding new policies.
