Great Lakes Chemical has named Mark Bulriss, 46, president and chief executive officer, effective April 6. Bulriss, currently president of AlliedSignal's polymers division, will replace Robert B. McDonald, 61, who will retire after 30 years with the company. McDonald, who will re main a member of Great Lakes' board, says the appointment of Bulriss is the last major element of a restructuring plan that has included the spin-off of fuel-additives maker Octel, the exit from non-core businesses such as furfural and environmental services, and the acquisition of niche businesses such as Cookson's antimony oxide unit. Bulriss joined AlliedSignal in 1993 as head of its laminates unit after 16 years with GE Plastics. David N. Weidman, 42, will take over as president of AlliedSignal's polymer operations. Weidman had been head of the company's fluorine products unit. Allied says it will announce a fluorine produces leader shortly.
