摘要
Traditionally, portable antiquities belonging to a culture are stored in a museum archives and archaeological sites where they tell a glorious ancient history. Digitisation of cultural heritage objects purely depends on availability of funds, knowledge, interest and resources. There are many ongoing research projects in this area but the implementation of one solution in all cases is not possible. A care has to be taken with these rich heritage objects and a set method to be defined which are acceptable, affordable and approachable in different situations. We also understand that digitisation of cultural heritage object is valueless until it is accessible by a community of interest who can study and learn from it. The focus of this research is on portable antiquities of Sindh province, which has a long and rich heritage history. It comes from Indus valley Civilization, one of the three oldest civilizations of the world and it has been vanishing. There had been a desperate need to develop a set of appropriate archival, visualisation and interaction methods, which will not only to preserve it in digital format but it will also allow other heritage communities to explore it in a visual format. This research uses state-of-the-art technologies to visualise and interact with portable antiquities in a web-based environment. Step by step methods have been advised and demonstrated for easy implementation of portable digital heritage objects in line with budgeting and resource constraints in the region.
