Opportunities for collaboration in European research

This manuscript gives an overview of collaboration possibilities in European research programmes for the engineering community in China and stresses its importance in the Sixth framework programme. It references the Science and Technology cooperation agreement in place governing the China-EU relationships in the domain and introduces the China-EU Science and Technology Cooperation office. Furthermore the paper documents the current call for project proposals that will be open in 2004. Statistics on cooperation with non EU member states and other administrations in the world in the fifth framework programme and the Intelligent manufacturing Systems programme illustrate the feasibility of the approach.
