摘要：
LIGHT shines brightly in many high-speed data networks. Fiber-optic technology has made great strides in recent years in its capability to handle higher data rates, and many system engineers have discovered fiber-optic transmission to be a reliable and cost-effective alternative to copper-wire and wireless approaches. Standard fiber-optic components are now available for modulation rates in excess of 10 GHz (10 Gb/s) in support of a wide range of optical communications standards.
