摘要
As the Islamic period (seventh century C.E. and later) continues to be more widely recognized as an important period of archaeological research in its own right, more archaeologists are investigating the latest Islamic periods in the Middle East: Ottoman and post-Ottoman archaeology. Nevertheless, these periods remain understudied in a field that itself often receives little attention to the point that it is ignored even when present at archaeological excavations. This article will discuss the importance of Ottoman and post-Ottoman archaeology for archaeologists of the Near East in all periods, and highlight some of the important discoveries made in this field. © 2014, American Schools of Oriental Research 1.
