摘要：
This paper introduces the damage statistics from the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu (Kobe) Earthquake and discusses the implication of damage on the performance-based design. The paper introduces the activities associated with the Integrated Research Development Project (1995-1998) of Ministry of Construction, Japanese Government, toward the development of a system of structural design technology based on performance of the structure.
