摘要
A study was conducted to investigate flow visualization of the aerodynamics of the modeled dragonfly wings. It demonstrated that an improvement of the aluminum tracer method facilitated flow visualization. The aluminum tracer method was improved by forming a linear region without containing aluminum particles parallel with the flow along the surface to be observed. An array of light-emitting diodes was used to enhance the visibility of the flow. This method displayed the mean streamlines of the entire flowfield and the mean movements of wakes and vortices provided that the exposure time for observational photography was properly selected. This process enabled an average relationship between the lift-to-drag characteristics of wings and the vortices around them to be established. The presence of stagnant flow in the separated region allowed to conclude that the drag of this wing at low Re was greater than that at higher Re where the flow was free from separation.
