摘要
The article discusses the features of the activities of educational and correctional institutions for minors who have committed offenses. The authors reveal the peculiarities of the education of this category of persons in the colonies-shelters of the Russian Empire of the late 19th - early 20th centuries and at the present time. Past experience is considered by the example Storozynski transitional shelter Smolensk province through the analysis of historical materials found in the State archive of the Smolensk region (ASR). It is worth pointing out that education included various types of influence on juvenile offenders, which led to the correction of the latter.
