Termite nests in a mound field at Kiserian, Kenya (Isoptera: Macrotermitinae)

Mounds in the western fringe of the Embakasi mound field were examined. Five large mounds all contained evidence of nests of Odontotermes montanus, mostly moribund or dead. Of twelve smaller mounds, seven contained remnants of O. montanus nests and three contained healthy nests of O. anceps, while two showed no evidence of recent termite occupation.
