摘要
The major problem for the investigation of the thermodynamic properties of liquid transition metals concerns the modelling of electronic configuration. The presence of 3d or 4f states makes it large and can not be treated as in free approximation. Analysis is carried out with the help of hard sphere (HS) model. This is further used to compute the isothermal compressibility and specific heat at melting temperature. A simple relation for temperature dependence of packing density (eta) is suggested and is used to investigate the entropy as a function of temperature. Volume of mixing for Co - Fe and Cu - Fe is also carried out.
