In 68 milking cows selected blood components were measured regularly after artificial insemination to search for indications on a correlation to the result of the AI. Indications for a successful insemination were found. The values of thrombocytes decreased in pregnant and increased in non pregnant cows and the phagocytosis-activity of PMNL was significantly higher in the pregnant than in the non pregnant animals. This difference was very prominent at the day 13 after insemination with a peak, where this effect could be used as an early pregnancy test with very high accuracy.
