摘要
Background The metaphor of the psychotic society enables consolidation of many seemingly disparate forms of collective crises. Objective How can the present be described and what is to be gained if we find new metaphors and perspectives? Material and method Press articles, specialized literature and observation of culture. Results A psychotic society describes a transient state. Greed, competition and control mania have distanced us so much from the sane and livable truth of life that we are literally insane. Meanwhile, our consumption-based way of life is really at war with the well-being of the planetary ecosystem. Not only nature is threatened but also our own survival. Conclusion Crisis is a Greek word meaning aggravation, decision. Healing lies in finding a new meaning. Therefore, the critical transient state is also an invitation to discover and create new ways of dealing with nature, love and our own humanness.
