Modelling of turbulent flows in rotating systems with second-moment closures

摘要
The performance of second-moment closures in rotating reference frame is investigated. Particular attention is paid to rotating channel and axially rotating pipe flows. It is observed that the existing second-moment closures with Fu-Launder-Tselepidakis (FLT), isotropization of production and convection (IPC) and Speziale-Sarkar-Gatski (SSG) Pressure-strain correlations and appropriate near-wall treatment can adequately reflect the effects of the Coriolis force on the Reynolds stresses. It is also elucidated that the well-known K-E two-equation moder fails to cope with the basic turbulence features in rotating frame of reference.
