STUDY REGARDING THE CORRELATION BETWEEN ECONOMIC GROWTH AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF A COUNTRY

This study provides an overview of the relationship between economic growth and energy consumption enhanced in a linear regression model. This report analyzes from the statistic point of view date collected from USA, Russia, Romania, U.K as well as from the other important European countries, exposing a linear regression model. This learning illustrates that apparently surprising there is a negative correlation between the economic growth and the energy consumed by the respective country's population. The study shows that 16.7% of the total variance in the regressed variable (energy consumed) is "explained" by the linear regression model. In final, we "isolate" those countries which not present a balanced degree between the number of population, level of energy consumed as well as the extent of country's industrialization for an in-depth view. In our opinion, this model will provide useful and auxiliary judgment in projections the economic strategies, including energy segment, especially in the utilities sector for the future.
