摘要
This study involves the characterization of creep and bolt-load retention (BLR) characteristics of the die-cast magnesium alloys, AE42 and AZ91D, and compares them to the BLR characteristics of die-cast 380 aluminum. The effect of temperature and stress or preload on the creep and BLR behavior of these alloys were investigated and discussed in terms of the influence of microstructure, bolted joint configuration, and heat treatment. The activation energy of the steady state creep for AZ91D was close to that of self-diffusion, indicating that dislocation climb is responsible for the creep mechanism. Aging at 150 degrees C without solution treatment improved the BLR property of AZ91D.
