A Development of TANZAKU Calligraphy Training System using Augmented Reality and Dynamic Font

摘要
This paper considers a problem of training human skills in the calligraphy with a long-slip of paper "TANZAKU". For such a problem, we here develop a novel training system by using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. Therein, the dynamic font method is used to generate a sample character, in which the character is formed as the result of 3-dimensional motion of a virtual writing device on a virtual writing plane. Also, AR technology is employed to give trainee a visual information consisting of not only static writing path but also dynamic writing process of model characters. Then, trainee can train calligraphy based on such visual information displayed on TANZAKU through a head mounted display (HMD). The performance is demonstrated by experimental studies.
