摘要
GPS combined with IRNSS is an emerging Navigation system in India. The combined system is useful to improve the positioning accuracy of user/receiver on or above the earth surface at any time, in all weather conditions. In civil aviation and precision applications such as surveying as well as in disaster management, these navigation systems can be used to find the precise location of the receiver. As these are satellite based navigation systems, the positioning accuracy can be degraded by the geometry of the satellite and receiver spatially along with the errors due to atmosphere, multipath etc., The dilution of precision (DOP), a unit less quantity, is the measure of satellite-receiver geometry. Hence by investigating the DOP with GPS and IRNSS combined constellations; it is possible to obtain the improved positioning accuracy that is sparingly useful for precision applications such as CAT-1 aircraft landings, surveying and disaster management.
