Guerilla warfare during the Risorgimento

The essay is a further contribution to the theory of guerrilla warfare in the Risorgimento, whose main Authors were Carlo Bianco di Saint-Jorioz, Giuseppe Mazzini and Nicola Fabrizi. In the first place, the study dwells upon a rare brochure on guerrilla warfare published in Trapani towards the end of 1848 by the Sicilian patriot Girolamo Castelli, who suggests the employ of the "partisan" war to defend the Sicilian revolution against the Bourbon's troops. The second part of the essay takes into consideration the booklet of 1853, Della Guerra d'insurrezione, written by Giuseppe Lucarelli, a reactionary author who advocates using warfare in a counter-revolutionary sense.
